Broadbridge Heath FC Launches New Women’s Open Age Team Ahead of 25/26 Season

Broadbridge Heath FC is proud to announce the launch of a brand-new Women’s Open Age team, set to compete in the Sussex County Women and Girls League for the 2025/26 season. This marks a significant step forward for the club in expanding its female football offering and underlines its commitment to growing the women’s and girls’ game within the local community.

To support this exciting development, the club is delighted to appoint Emma Flood to a newly created role as Women & Girls Development Lead. Emma brings passion, experience, and a deep understanding of the game, and will be instrumental in building a clear pathway for girls from grassroots to open-age football.

In addition, Keith Miller has joined Broadbridge Heath FC as the Women’s Team Manager. Keith brings a wealth of experience to the role and will lead the new team into its inaugural season with a focus on development, competitiveness, and creating a positive, inclusive team culture.

“This is more than just forming a new team,” said Flood. “It’s about creating a sustainable, welcoming environment where female players can thrive. We want to inspire the next generation of girls in our community to fall in love with football, and to know there’s a place for them here at Broadbridge Heath FC.”

The club’s announcement comes at a time of historic growth in the women’s game. According to The FA’s recent Inspiring Positive Change strategy update, there are now over 2.4 million women and girls playing football in England – a 43% increase since 2021. With over 7,000 affiliated female teams nationwide, the appetite for the game is stronger than ever.

And with the Lionesses representing England in this summer's UEFA Women’s EUROs, the momentum continues. The tournament promises to inspire thousands more young girls to lace up their boots and dream big.

Broadbridge Heath FC is actively looking to expand its female football provision and welcomes players of all abilities who are interested in joining the new Women’s Open Age team or getting involved in the wider girls’ programme.
