Broadbridge Heath went into the game against Sevenoaks hoping to bring an end to their run of 6 games without a win but the visitor’s had other ideas as they looked to gain points to move away from the relegation places.
Heath started well winning successive corners and even had the ball in the back of the net following one, only for the Match Referee to rule it out for a foul on the Oaks goalkeeper Jordan Perrin.
The Oaks keeper was in action again on 6 minutes making a full length save to deny Sal Marino an early goal.
Despite the good start it was the visitor’s who took the lead on 9 minutes with their first noteworthy attack when a Heath move broke down on the edge of the penalty area, the ball was cleared to Rodney Erutor wide on the right who picked out the run of Warren-Hughes Mfula who powered his way into the Heath penalty area before striking a low right foot shot wide of Heath keeper Alfie Hadfield and in off the left post.
The visitor’s added a second on 33 minutes when Heath lost possession on the halfway line a quick move down the right saw Hansan Itauma advance to the goal-line before playing the ball back to Mfula, 12 yards from goal who swung a right foot to fire the ball past Hadfield for his second of the match taking his team into a 0-2 half-time lead.
Heath again started the half really well and Perrin was again forced into action making another full length save to push Zac Young’s left foot shot out for a corner. Louis Evans took the resulting corner which was met by a powerful Brad Peters header giving Perrin no chance of stopping.
The Bears were now on the ascendency in search of the equaliser but that all changed on 54 minutes when a Heath corner was cleared to Jefferson Aibangbee who played a long ball straight down the middle of the park which was chased down by Mfula, Byron Napper was in hot pursuit and judged to have brought down the Oaks striker 30 yards from goal.
After a stop of several minutes following a scuffle between players, with punches being thrown by Oaks Sammie Mcleod, the match referee produced a Red Card for the Heath skipper for denying a goal-scoring opportunity, which seemed somewhat harsh with Hadfield out to close the angle and Neo Wooster coming in from the right but only a Yellow Card for the Mcleod who was quickly substituted by the Oaks management?
Erutor took the resulting free kick which was saved brilliantly by Hadfield but it was recycled and eventually came back to Erutor who made sure the second time with a rocket of a shot from the edge of the penalty area that flew into the back of the Heath net.
With the extra man the Oaks were able to hold on quite comfortably to their lead which see them now 8 points clear of the relegation places, Heath meanwhile will be pleased to see the back of December, Next up a trip to Three Bridges on Saturday 3rd December.
