Ashford United moved away from the relegation places in the Isthmian League South East division with an impressive 5-2 win away to Broadbridge Heath.
The visitors started well and took the lead on 10 minutes when a left wing cross was collected by Mike West who netted with a right foot shot from 16 yards.
Heath equalised on 27 minutes through Sal Marino turning in a Charlie Gibson corner from the right but Ashford regained the lead 2 minutes before the break when Gary Locker converted a right wing cross to make it 1-2 at the break.
The Bears were level 10 minutes into the restart when Mason Doughty beat the offside trap to run through and score his second since returning to the club from Sevenoaks Town.
The visitors regained the lead 6 minutes later through Jack Dixon with a rocket of a right foot shot from 25 yards that flew past Heath goalkeeper Alfie Hadfield.
Heath were caught on the break on 85 minutes searching for the equaliser with Locker striking a right foot shot from distance and deep into injury time Louis Collins made it 5-2 to complete a good afternoon for the Nuts and Bolts with their only negative being the dismissal of Locker in the 98th minute for something he must have said to the referee.
After the match Broadbridge Heath manager Chris Simmons said “Nowhere near good enough from us today, Ashford fully deserved the 3 points, they worked harder than us and wanted it more”.
Next up for The Bears is a trip to Faversham Town on Saturday 20th December before a trip over-sea and a night away when the team travel to play Jersey Bulls on Monday 22nd and back in time for Christmas.
