The Bears first ever victory in the Pitching In Isthmian League

The Bears travelled to Eden Park Avenue, home of Beckenham Town FC hoping to kick start the season with 3 points in the Pitching In Isthmian League South East division.

Another new ground and new opponents for the Bears, something we’ll be getting use to saying a lot over the course of the season, the sun was out, the sky was blue and the grass pitch looked in perfect good condition.

Heath manager Chris Simmons made two changes to the lineup bringing in Charlie Parmiter and Sam Lemon to the starting lineup. The Bears flew out the blocks with Matt Penfold testing Nick Blue the Becks keeper in the opening minute with a bullet of a shot that the keeper somehow managed to save at full stretch.

Heath continued to pile on the pressure but without troubling the Becks keeper too much until the 31st minute when Mario Quiassaca found space wide on the left and played the ball across the goalmouth to Sam Lemon who side-stepped a defender and drilled a low shot wide of Blue for the strikers first goal of the season.

Heath continued to press and scored a second goal on 42 minutes, another rocket from Penfold but this time the Becks keeper stood no chance of stopping it from flying into the roof of the net.

Things got even better a minute before the break when “Player of the Match” Louis Evans scored his first of the season; then deep into time added on it was 4-0 and game over when Tad Bromage headed home from close range.

The hosts made two changes early in the second period and that seemed to make them more stable but any chance they had of recovering were dashed on 70 minutes when Dieko Falade was sent off for an off the ball incident spotted by the eagle-eyed Assistant.

The Bears were not going to be denied their first win of the season and comfortably held out for the win.

No game for the Bears next Saturday, so their next match is away to Three Bridges on Saturday 30th September. Push Bikes and Tandems leaving the club at 1.40.

Team: Greensall, Frankland, Chesworth, Penfold, Bromage, Scally, Parmiter, Evans (Khallouqi 70), Quiassaca (Mutongerwa 63), Lemon (Campbell 60) Lindsey.
