The goals continue to flow at The BodyMould Community Stadium on Tuesday night when The Bears scored five goals for the fifth time at home this season when they played host to Hastings United in the Sussex Transport Senior Cup.
Callum Dowdell opened the scoring for Heath on 6 minutes when he intercepted a cross-field pass some 30 yards from goal, advanced a few paces forward and unleashed a fierce right foot shot that flew past United goalkeeper Will Huffer.
Huffer was in action again a few minutes later making a full length save, low to his right to deny Louis Evans long range shot. At the other end, former Heath player Jake Lindsay crossed from the left found its way to Walter Figueira who scuffed his right foot shot from 12 yards wide of the post.
Heath continued to create the better chances with Huffer making further saves from Jake Lawrence, Louis Evans and then a point blank save denying Brad Peters header from going in but on 38 minutes he could do nothing to prevent The Bears leading goal-scorer Zac Young from doubling the lead when Lawrence received the ball wide on the left, got behind the fullback and played the ball across the goal face to Young who back-heeled it past Huffer for his 16th goal of the season.
The visitor’s struck back a minute before the break when Figueira received the ball some 30 yards from goal and hit a right foot shot that flew over Heath goal-keeper Stan Williamson and dropped into the net to bring the half to an end.
Hastings started the second half well forcing Williamson into a smart save in the opening minutes but it was The Bears who extended their lead on 51 minutes when Zac Young played a pass down the right wing for Evans to chase, the Heath midfielder took the ball to the goal-line, went around the fullback and played it low across the face of goal, a United defender attempted to clear the ball at the far post but sent it straight to Lawrence who powered a right foot shot back into the net from 12 yards to make it 3-1.
The Bears were now dominating long periods of play and added a fourth on 61 minutes when Charlie Gibson played the ball into Young’s feet some 25 yards from goal, the Heath forward immediately played the ball into the path of Dowdell who advanced into the penalty area and hammered a low right foot shot past Huffer for his second for the match.
Heath completed the scoring on 72 minutes when right fullback Jack Frankland intercepted a pass on the halfway line and ran with pace to the goal-line before playing the ball inside to Lawrence who turned sharply to dispatch the ball into the bottom right corner.
