Heath travelled the short distance to Steyning on Saturday 5th July for the first of six pre-season friendly matches.
In what was a pretty even match between the two sides it was the hosts who took the lead on 28 minutes when a Steyning striker capitalised on a mistake at the back to run through on goal and dispatch a fierce right foot shot into the bottom left corner of the net.
Heath equalised minutes before the break when a ball was played down the left to Callum Dowdell who sprinted past the fullback and placed his shot wide of the Steyning keeper into the net.
Wholesale changes were made to the Heath line-up in the second period, with several new faces making their first appearance for The Bears but it was the homes-side who won the match 10 minutes from time when a low corner from the right was swung into the Heath 6 yard box, the ball pinged around the danger area before an attempted clearance was hammered straight at a Steyning player and the ball ricochet off the player into the net.
A good work out for both sides as they prepare for the new season.
Next up for The Bears is a trip to Peacehaven & Telscombe on Tuesday evening.
