Broadbridge Heath Women’s team got their pre-season campaign off to the perfect start with an emphatic 10-3 victory over Brighton Seagals.

With Seagals travelling a little short on numbers, we were pleased to loan four players each half from our selected squad to help make the game possible. A huge thank you to those players for stepping up, representing both teams, and earning some valuable extra minutes.

It was an entertaining first half, with the Bears taking a 4-3 lead into the break. Interestingly, all three Seagals goals came from our own striker Lucie Francis, who had been loaned to the opposition for the first half! Our goals came courtesy of Lilymae Van Drongelen, Nicole Cossey, Darryl Avery and Maddy Davies.

The second half saw the Bears raise their game even further, adding six more goals to complete an impressive 10-3 win. Maddy Davies added another two goals to complete her hat-trick, Lucie Francis was back in Bears colours to get on the scoresheet herself twice , Lily Hoare found the net directly from a corner, and Lilymae Van Drongelen capped off the scoring with a superb run down the wing before calmly finishing.

Beyond the scoreline, the game showcased the fantastic team spirit and sportsmanship within the squad. Loaning players to ensure both teams could enjoy a competitive fixture summed up the values of the club and made for a great afternoon of football.

The Bears now turn their attention to their next pre-season test with an away trip to Horley next weekend.
