Our ladies travelled to Worthing FC on Sunday for their opening league fixture of the season. Spirits were high following last weekend’s county cup victory over Whitehawk and the exciting news of drawing Steyning DS at home in the next round, to be played on Sunday 19th October.
The match itself ended in a hard-fought 0–0 draw. Neither goalkeeper was truly tested, but the game saw plenty of determination and battling all over the pitch. Making her first appearance of the season was striker Ellie Jefferies, adding an extra option in attack.
Midfielder Maddy Davies stood out with a commanding performance in the centre of the park and was deservedly named Player of the Match.
Next up, the ladies are back in league action as they make the trip to Eastbourne Town.
