Broadbridge Heath went into this game knowing a point would be enough to win the Division North title for the third time in five years but the visitor’s certainly made Chris Ellis’s team work hard for the points.
In what was a very evenly contested first half between two good footballing sides, the only difference was a goal scored 10 minutes before the break when a deep clearance by a Lingfield defender was intercepted on the halfway line by Sean Terry who played it inside to Deren Bedir, the Heath midfield player played a pass between two defenders to Keanin Louw who fired off a left foot shot that flew past the Lingfield keeper to make it 1-0 at the break.
Heath created the better chances in the second period with Nathan Kennedy-Tamplin going close with a left foot shot inches wide of the post and Adam Al Meskin trying his luck with a left foot shot from distance which was saved comfortably by the Lingfield stopper.
On 63 minutes ‘The Bears’ doubled their lead when a mix-up between keeper and defender allowed Luke York to steal the ball and play it inside to Louw, his first attempt was blocked by the goalkeeper but the ball flew up in the air and Louw was on it in a flash with a bicycle overhead kick to fire the ball into the net for his second of the game.
With the 2-goal lead ‘The Bears’ saw out the game to earn all 3 points and become 2025/26 Champions of ‘The SCFL U23 North division’.
