Heath Under 23s finally played a competitive fixture, their first game for 12 weeks when they travelled to Storrington on Thursday evening, so it was a case of dusting off the cobwebs and like starting pre-season all over again.
With the Under 18s playing on the same night it meant The Bears manager Chris Ellis was unable to call upon any of the youth talent but he still managed to field three substitutes; the match also saw the return of Matt Hay for his first game since coming off injured for the first team match away to AFC Whyteleafe back in September.
Heath started well but were denied by some excellent goalkeeping by The Swans stopper Guy Humphries. That all changed midway through the half when Adam Al Meskin scored with worldy left foot volley from 22 yards that flew into the top left corner giving Humphries no chance of stopping.
The Heath defender made it 0-2 with his second of the match just minutes later with another cracking goal, this time receiving the ball just outside the penalty area, beating three defenders, taking the ball around the goalkeeper for a tap-in and his Man-Of-Match display continued on 37 minutes when he took the ball to the goal-line before cutting it back to Luke York to finish from close range, 0-3 at the break.
Heath continued to dominate play in the second half with Nathan Kennedy-Tamplin adding a fourth 5 minutes into the restart, Al Meskin completing his hat-trick on 72 minutes, Matt Hay making it 0-6 in the 85th minute and Althalf Sheriff scoring his first goal for The Bears minutes before full-time.
The final result a 0-7 away win for The Bears who will travel to reigning champions Hassocks in their next match on Thursday 12th March.
