Match Report: Broadbridge Heath Women 1–0 Eastbourne Town Women
SCWGFL Challenge Cup – Sunday, 9th November 2025
Broadbridge Heath Women booked their place in the SCWGFL Challenge Cup Quarter Finals after a hard-fought 1–0 victory at home against Eastbourne Town on Sunday.
The Bears dominated the game from the start and created numerous chances in the first half, but couldn’t quite make them count. Several promising efforts were well saved by the Town goalkeeper, who proved difficult to beat.
The breakthrough finally came when Nicole Cossey was brought down in the box, earning the Bears a penalty. LilyMae Van Drongelen stepped up but struck the post — only for Maddy Davies to react quickest and fire home the rebound to give Heath a deserved 1–0 lead at half-time.
The second half continued in similar fashion, with Broadbridge Heath on top and forcing more saves from the Eastbourne Town keeper.
Late in the game, the visitors were handed a lifeline when awarded a penalty of their own. However, fortune favoured the Bears as Town also struck the post, and the rebound was safely cleared for a throw-in.
The final whistle confirmed another impressive win for Broadbridge Heath, who now move into the Quarter Finals, where they’ll face the winner of TD Shipley vs Hassocks on Sunday 8th February 2026 at home.
Next up, the team turn their attention to another cup competition — the Sussex Women’s Challenge Trophy, as they travel away to face East Preston Women on Sunday 16th November.
