Broadbridge Heath U23 6-1 Redhill U23

Star of the show in this match goes to Roman Burrell scoring his first goals for the Under 23s and based on this performance there’s likely to be a few more before the season comes to an end.

Heath took the lead on 6 minutes when Josh Barlow received the ball on the halfway line and advanced down the centre before playing an inch perfect pass between two defenders to send Burrell through on goal and the young striker made no mistake coolly striking a low right foot shot past the Redhill keeper into the far corner for his first goal for the Under 23s.

The Bears doubled their lead on 20 minutes when Ollie Gill intercepted a pass in the centre circle and played a long ball down the right flank that saw Burrell run at pace at the defence before beating the fullback and rifling a low shot past the keeper from 16 yards and it remained 2-0 at the break.

Burrell completed his hat-trick on the hour mark having been brought down by a clumsy challenge in the penalty area and he picked himself up, dusted himself down and slotted the spot kick into the bottom right corner.

Things got even better for the striker minutes later when he received the ball wide on the right and ran into the box, beat two defenders before smashing a right foot shot that flew past the Redhill keeper for his fourth of the night.

With 10 minutes remaining Wiktor Maznica made it 5-0 when he robbed the ball off a defender and struck a fierce right foot shot from the edge of the penalty area that gave the keeper no chance as it flew into the top right corner for his twelfth goal of the season.

Heath completed their scoring for the night 2 minutes later when the ball was played across the face of the goal, it should have been cleared by a defender who completely missed his clearance and the ball fell kindly to Charlie Mark who smashed it home from close range.

The best goal of the night though was scored by the visitors deep into injury time when their player received the ball from his goalkeeper deep in his own half in the right back position, he started a run that saw him exchange passes on the halfway line before continuing his run which ended with him cutting inside and striking a left foot curler into the top right corner of the goal giving Monty Watson-Price no chance.

The win see Heath extend their lead to 3 points at the top of the division with Horsham YMCA who we play next Thursday at the BodyMould Stadium, in second.
