The U23 team was in action on Thursday night when we welcomed Horsham U18 to the BodyMould Community Stadium for our final and last pre-season friendly before the start of the league season in the Southern Combination, North Division.
The visitors started well and took the lead on 13 minutes, the impressive Hornet striker Jack Wallace was awarded a free kick wide on the left, the ball was played into the Heath six yards box, the Bears goalkeeper was unable to hold onto the ball which escaped his grasp and fell kindly to Wallace who stabbed it home from close range.
15 minutes later it was 2-0, a long ball down the right flank was fed through to Wallace who drilled it into the bottom left corner for his second of the game.
Heath reduced the deficit 5 minutes before the break when Wiktor Maznica received a through ball, cut inside a defender and struck a low right foot shot into the bottom right corner bringing the half to an end.
Heath equalised 12 minutes into the restart, Maznica broke away down the right, played the ball across the face of goal to his strike partner who struck it first time only to be denied by the Horsham keeper, but the ball fell kindly to Tanna Ba who converted from close range.
The winner came in the 61st minute and it was that young man Wallace again, receiving the ball some 18 yards from goal and he stuck a right foot shot past the Heath keeper to complete what was a very good performance from the Horsham striker.
Both sides continued to create chances without adding to the score-line and it remained 3-2 to the Hornets which on the balance of play was a fair result. Next Up for the Bears is a trip to Horley Town next Thursday.
